diamonds by as29

I am a huge fan of diamond pave ultra feminine jewelry and I am soooo loving these pieces from AS29 created by Belgium jewelry designer Audrey Savransky.  Because I have really tiny fingers and thin hands it is really easy for jewelry to overwhelm me and I tend to stay with more dainty and delicate pieces. I love the designs by AS29 because they are so very sweet and girlie but at the same time definitely have a rocker edge to them.  I think that this balance really makes all the pieces stand out from other brands and make the pieces so much more special.  It is definitely unlikely that you will run into someone else wearing the same thing and I'm sure everyone will notice these amazing creations.  I am totally lusting over the little pave bracelets on neon silk threads.  This would look amazing worn alone as a statement or layered with other bracelets and your watch.  Only 7 more months until my birthday!

easter chocolate at pierre herme belgravia

There is chocolate everywhere this time of year and I seriously cannot keep my hands off of it.  At this rate I am never going to loose the baby weight but I'd rather shed this weight off slowly than detox my wicked sweet tooth.  I am definitely a total chocolate snob and really only eat dark chocolate so I suppose it's not completely bad.

We stopped by one of my absolute favorite chocolate shops Pierre Herme in Belgravia last weekend in the freezing cold and snow flurries.  Once inside the shop we were immediately warmed by the sight of all the scrumptious chocolate and macarons.  Pierre Herme is honestly the most amazing chocolate I have ever tasted and I could easily eat everything in the shop and get wheel-barrowed home from a chocolate coma.  I definitely recommend splurging for some amazing Easter treats from the shop after all chocolate is for grown-ups too!

There was no way I wasn't leaving the shop without a box of macarons.  It is nearly impossible to look at these little beauties and not salivate.  I love the flavors at Pierre Herme and really they stand out from all the other macarons that seem to be everywhere now.  These are truly special!  The dark chocolate ones are my very favorite and in second place are the green tea with sesame macarons.  The salted caramel ones and hazelnut praline combo are not to be missed as well.  Luckily you can fill many flavors in a box so don't need to miss out on any of your favorite flavors!

If you are ever in the neighborhood it is definitely worth a stop and satisfy all your chocolate fantasies!

pixie dixie london pajama party

I am seriously obsessed with pajamas for my kids.  I don't think there is anything better than snuggling up in bed in a pair of nice and cozy pjs.  There are so many adorable kids pjs out there and sometimes I just can't help myself.  You can probably tell I have a problem if you open up the kid's closet in the house.

My Little Monster is very into London transportation vehicles and I was just thrilled when I found these Pixie Dixie London double decker bus jammies at amazing children's nightwear department at Harrods.  The little guy is so excited to get into these pjs everytime they make the rotation and his friends are just as thrilled when they get to borrow the bus pjs after a bathtime playdate.  The best thing about these Pixie Dixie pajamas are that they are super duper soft and wash really well.  We have since added the London black taxi pjs in the classic collar to our collection.  All the designs come either in a crewneck collar or a traditional collared button down shirt.  I've got my eye on the bathrobe with the Union Jack Mini Cooper print next.  The bathrobe is great for cold mornings and warm days at the pool.

The designs capture these classic London icons in such a fun and modern way and make going to bed so much fun!

dream wardrobe friday x the boys

It's been a long week filled with tantrums, clingy-ness, PTA meeting, last minute trip to the doctor, being trapped in a parking spot with 2 cranky kids by a Porsche, and that's not including a near mommy meltdown.  So my apologies for the slow posts this week but I'm trying to keep my sanity around here.  At least the weekend is near and really looking forward to having another hand around to wrangle these kids!  Our holiday to Florida can't come soon enough and I'm counting down the minutes until we board that plane next week.  Some retail therapy is definitely in order for the kids as their summer wardrobe is currently nonexistent.

Here are my picks for this weeks Dream Wardrobe Friday for a well deserved holiday in the sun.

For Daddy:
Polo Ralph Lauren Navy Gingham Shirt - classic wardrobe staple
Paul Smith Raffia Trilby Hat - protection from sun without sacrificing style
Polo Ralph Lauren Hawaiian Swim Boxer - summer basic in a bright apple green
J. Crew Short-Sleeve Indigo Henley - so simple and perfect for layering
Tom Ford Snowdon Sunglasses - a must for summer
Toms Crabs Slip-On - we live in Toms in the summer and I love the crabs!

For Son:
J. Crew Vintage Chambray Workshirt - a must for all little boys
J. Crew Selima for Crewcuts Delancy Sunglasses - classic shades just like daddy
Polo Ralph Lauren Traveler Gingham Swim Short - preppy shorts in a fun bright green
J. Crew Stripe Band Trilby Hat - how dapper will your little man look in this?
Toms Sailboat Embroidered Shoe - the little sailboats are just adorable!

Now what to wear for the ladies?  Stay tuned next week.  Happy weekend and happy spring xox

aux merveilleux de fred

I have driven past Aux Merveilleux de Fred on Old Brompton Road in South Kensington several times and the stunning chandelier seen from the streets is so hard to miss.  I knew it was a new patisserie shop that had just opened up and was just delighted when I finally made a trip to the store.  My Little Monster and I ran up to the windows and were both so excited to see all the pastry chefs hard a work at their little creations but still had no idea what they were making.  If you can't tell we both have a terrible sweet tooth and a weakness for French desserts.  We are so lucky that another French establishment has opened up close to our home.

Once inside the shop you can't help by notice how gorgeous that chandelier really is and our mouths started to water looking at all the little cakes.  The whole shop only sold one type of cake called the merveilleux which is the lightest meringue layered with a whipped cream then covered in a topping in different colors and flavors.  The display and packaging of these little merveilleux are just so beautiful and would make the perfect hostess gift especially since this is the only shop where you can find such a dessert in all of London!

There are 5 different flavors all together:
The Merveilleux - Dark Chocolate
The Incroyable - White Chocolate
The Impensable - Coffee
The Excentrique - Cherry
The Magnifique - Praline, Hazelnut, and Almond

We purchased a small box of 4, dark chocolate, white chocolate, cherry and praline.  Absolutely delicious and will definitely be back for more!

rainy saturday at harrods

One of my favorite place in all of London is definitely Harrods!  I could seriously spend endless hours in there and never tire of the experience.  There really is everything you need under one roof from luxury goods, fashion, beauty, jewels, the food hall, Laduree, and amazing selection for children.  Luckily it happens to be one of my Little Monsters absolute favorite places too.  Guess it runs deep in the blood!

One of the tricky things about having 2 kids I'm finding is getting to spend enough one-on-one time with each of them.  There's so much time at the end of the night feeling guilty hoping that I'm am doing enough.  I was delighted on Saturday when my husband took Baby Girl for some bonding time so my Little Monster and I could head to Harrods to do some birthday shopping for Baby Girl who is almost 1 year old!  It was the perfect day to escape as the weather has been typically English, gray, rainy and cold.

It was such a pleasant surprise once we arrived that there were a lot of activities going on for the children on the 4th floor (kids fashion) for St. Patrick's Day.  There was Irish dancing which the Little Monster really enjoyed watching and we had our very first face painting experience.  Those of you with little boys will fully understand where I am coming from but the kid actually sat still without moving for a good 10 minutes!  Little Monster asked for a dinosaur and it was actually the face painters first dinosaur as well.  She did such an incredible job and the Little Monster was beyond thrilled!

We headed down to the Toy Kingdom which is heaven for any child.  My kid has got the plan memorized and knows exactly where to head once he steps foot in the Toy Kingdom.  He runs for the Hornby Trains that of course are not age appropriate and cost an absolute fortune.  Lucky for me this time Oska-Poska, the trendy Harrods bear, came to great us and we followed him to story time.  There are all these bright colored circle cushions lined up on the floor for the kids to sit on.  The whole setting is so sweet and all the kids were having such a great time.  We will definitely be going back for more stories.

We actually didn't get much shopping done because we were having so much fun which leaves me with a good excuse to go back.  Be sure to sign up for the Mini Harrods club to get emails and updates about the latest activities in the shop and also to start collecting points for any purchases made.

dream wardrobe friday 15 march 2013

Well we are halfway through March and it is still FREEZING cold outside! I got caught out in a freak hailstorm yesterday and nearly lost my fingers trying to load both kids and the buggy into the car.  I love looking at the new spring/summer collections and cannot wait until it is warm enough to start wearing these pieces.  The Little Monster's school is off for nearly 3 weeks during Easter so I'm packing up to spending it at my mother's house in New Jersey.  I will for sure go insane without any childcare here for 3 weeks.  Luckily we are heading to Orlando for part of our holiday and I am craving some warmth and sun.  I don't even think Baby Girl remembers what it feels like being warm.

So here are my picks for this weeks Dream Wardrobe Friday.  I have to start packing for our trip soon and I don't think either child actually has a summer wardrobe at this point.  I'm loving all of the bright lemon yellows in the current collections and think it looks just lovely paired with a pale pink.  So tempted to click and buy it all right now!

beauty delivered to your door

One of the hardest things I find to maintain being a busy mommy is beauty regime.  Sometimes I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and ask did I really leave the house looking like this?  My hands take the biggest beating of all with the constant washing up, laundry, chopping/cooking, and tidying up.  The London water is just so hard and awful on the skin and the dry winter weather doesn't help much either.  Having freshly painted nails really does perk me up and it is hard to find some child free time to head to the nail salon.

Here is where the amazing Trish W Beauty comes to the rescue.  Trish's daughter and my son go to nursery together and this mama of 2 has got some serious style!  Trish is a tres glamourous mommy who is always so put together from head to toe with the most incredible bag and shoe collection.  When I found out she just started up her own beauty service that does house calls I jumped at the chance of having her over!  It was all so convenient to pop baby girl down for a nap in her room and have Trish over to mine with her glam kit.

I really wanted a Shellac manicure and was so excited that she could do this at my kitchen table.  It was very relaxing to have a nice chat over a couple of lattes with Trish fixing up my nails.  The great thing about Trish is that she has been trained in holistic beauty and has a very natural approach keeping in mind what is best for your body.  I have had several experiences with Shellac manicures that left my nails stripped and dry or having the polish bubble and peel within the first couple of days.

Trish was gentle with my nails assuring me that her technique and not over-buffing will actually help my nails grow back stronger.  I also really like that she left the painted nails in the dryer for longer than the settings called for because there's nothing worse than spending all this time and money just to have the mani ruined.  I didn't feel rushed as you do in a nail salon with people lurking about waiting for their turn or the beautician trying to rush through the whole thing.  The polishes are all from the American company CND which is the real good quality stuff that won't ruin your nails.  I've promised not to pick at the manicure and she will pop by to use the wraps to take them off when I'm ready.

The incredible Trish offers many more beauty services including massages, makeup, skin treatments and lots more so give her a ring for some pampering that us tired mommies deserve!

the chicest mommy blog

I am super excited about the launch of Julia Restoin Roitfeld's motherhood blog Romy and the Bunnies.  Last May Julia gave birth to her daughter Romy Nicole and her blog is dedicated to her life as a new mommy.  Julia is the daughter of Carine Roitfeld who is the legendary former editor-in-chief of French Vogue known for her edgy looks.  Julia herself is very accomplished as a model, photographer, design consultant and graphics designer.  She was the face of Tom Ford's Black Orchid perfume and consults for Miu Miu.  So excited that Julia is now part of the mommy gang and really looking forward to her experiences of motherhood.  She will definitely be the epitome of mommy chic and I for sure will be stealing some tips from her blog.

veggie battle and the reward chart

9 days and the kid finally caved!  I am still in complete shock that I got my little monster to eat roasted sweet potato fries and for him to tell me that he likes them.  It was a long battle and I'm glad I held my ground and showed a bit of tough love.

So I introduced a reward chart for my son in addition to the naughty box and he totally responded to it.  It's amazing that such a simple concept is so effective and that he actually listened and understood how it worked.  So here was our game plan:

1. Because we had so many toys I ended up having to take away categories of toys (ie tracks, ipads, all trains, etc)  in order to get the point across.  He really didn't notice at first or let it show that he was bothered as there were plenty of others to distract him from.  Getting the bigger clear box did help since it was pretty effective being able to look in there and see what he was missing out on.  So every time he refused to try a veg toys would go in the naughty box.  When he does try a veg he gets to take one toy back out so we've still got our work cut out for us.

2.  Making a chart of the good boy things he should be doing everyday.  I was told to put lots of actions on the chart and not just make it about the vegetables. He gets rewarded every time he does a good thing.  With lots of actions it will be more likely to succeed at this and have a feeling of accomplishment.  Since he can't read I drew simple images of the actions so he can fully understand.

3.  I made him a reward chart that he would really respond to.  The kid is completely obsessed with monorails and since we are taking a trip to Disney World soon I incorporated a Disney theme into the chart.  Every time he does something nice he gets to put a monorail onto the chart and when the monorail reaches the castle then he gets a big prize.  Which I have just been told will be a Captain America action figure.  The trick is to make this really exciting and something he will be excited about.

Believe me it was tough to get him to try that one bite of veg and to get to a point where the monorails actually stayed on the chart.  He was pretty much a nightmare child the whole weekend.  Not so many meltdowns but just flat out ignoring anything I was saying and showing complete disrespect.  Somehow we ended up with 5 on there today which is a real feat and I'm so proud of the little guy!  What actually really hit him hard was taking the monorails off the chart and not confiscating the toys.  I'm sure we will hit some more downs before getting all 10 monorails but I feel much more confident about what to do and that this will actually work!

The beauty of this chart is that it can work for so many behaviors and great that a child can feel proud of good behavior.  You should have seen how excited he was when ate his veggies, got to take one toy out of the naughty box and to put that well deserved monorail up.  Makes the past 9 days totally worth it!

Mother's Day at Tom's Kitchen Chelsea

Wishing all the UK mommies a very Happy Mother's Day and hope you were all spoiled today!  So the sun didn't shine today and it's back to the freezing cold but I still had such a fabulous Mother's Day.

I booked brunch for us at Tom's Kitchen in Chelsea Green which has the most scrumptious brunch.  It has a great casual atmosphere which is great to bring 2 young children.  There is a kid's menu, a baby change, loads of high chairs and friendly staff which makes dining all very comfortable. The food is always really yummy so you are not settling while dining at a totally kid friendly establishment.  The food is sourced from natural and organic suppliers which are usually based in the UK so you don't have to worry too much about your carbon footprint eating here.

Hubby ordered the Brioche French Toast with caramelized apples and cinnamon cream which was really tasty.  The little monster ended up eating most of it pair with his spaghetti with tomato sauce.  I ordered the Eggs Royale with a side of portabello mushrooms and baby girl had the mac and cheese which was to die for.  The eggs were seriously fresh with a rich yellow yolk.  Brunch ended with the perfect skinny decaf latte.  We were in and out in about an hour without any meltdowns and I got a photo with both kids actually sitting on my lap at the same time not fighting so I think it was a great success!

dream wardrobe friday x mother's day

I'm very excited to bring you a new series that I will be posting on Fridays called Dream Wardrobe Friday.  I love to unwind by doing some online window shopping and of course the family friendly budget doesn't allow for much purchasing these days.  Motherhood hasn't completely changed me.  This is still a work of progress but I was thinking of picking an amazing outfit once a week for either mommy, baby/kiddo, or daddy.  Bring some extra glamour to Lattes and Juice readers!

Mother's Day is coming up this Sunday here in the UK and I'm sure many of us mommies have special lunches to attend.  In my head this is what I would love to wear with manicure and a blowout.  Here are my picks for the first Dream Wardrobe Friday:

Shourouk Mia Swarovski Crystal Earrings -  I love the pop of color from the cool mint stones.

Stella McCartney Square-Frame Sunglasses - This neutral frame is so chic and versatile.

Valentino The Rockstud Trapeze Bag - Drool worthy bag in a great nude color that can fit trains, books, bottles, wipes, nappies and so much more!  Love the handy shoulder strap for when you need both hands.

Miu Miu Drop-Waisted Gabardine Coat - This coat is TO DIE FOR!  The bold purple color is just incredible and the shape is super lady-like with the little flare.  Would look great with jeans and or dressed up.

Red Valentino Embroidered Silk-Organza Dress - This dress is so romantic and just pretty.  Looks great paired with heels or dressed down with a pair of flats too.

Miu Miu Cashmere and Silk Cardigan -  Since it is still freezing out and I'm never without a sweater, this Miu Miu cardigan is such a great piece to have in your wardrobe.  So simple and elegant.

Lanvin Bow Patent Belt - Lovely thin nude belt to go over the cardigan to make it just a bit chicer.

Jimmy Choo Frosting Suede Slingback - Last but not least an amazing pair of platform heels to finish off the outfit.

Wishing all you yummy mummies out there a Happy Mother's Day.  Hope you get pampered and spoiled this Sunday!

food training for the fussy eater

I'm sure many of you out there have the pleasure of living with a fussy eater!  My son seriously knows how to push all my buttons and get under my skin.  There's nothing I love more that slaving over the stove just to have the whole meal dumped in the bin.  What I am learning as a second time parent is that I have definitely been an enabler in this situation and allowed my son to be fussy.  With my daughter I am so much stricter and it's really been paying off as she is fabulous at meal times.

I am by no means a parenting expert and just wanted to share with you the process that I've been going through these past couple of days.  Luckily one of my close friends has been a nanny for the past 20+ years and is always more than happy to offer me some great parenting tips.  Since I've gotten stricter with my son over the summer his eating habits have really improved but vegetables are still a giant hurdle we can't seem to get past.  Seriously my kid has not eaten a single vegetable since he was 1 years old and the only way I get veg in him is by hiding it in food.  Grated in sauce, pureed in spaghetti bolognese, or hidden away in stir fries seem to be doing the trick but he is old enough now to learn how to eat healthy.

So starting from last Saturday I've started bribing my kid to eat vegetables with chocolates, cakes, and cookies.  I usually get him to finish his meals if I wave a dessert in front of him and clearly this was not working.  We tried eating the sweets and not giving him any but the kid's got will power I wish I had.  He simply ignored us without batting an eye.  So then my husband brought back a big box of airplanes and airport vehicles from his business trip and we told him he couldn't open in until he tried some veg.  I'm not talking a whole carrot just a tiny little speck and of course he didn't buy this either.

That's when I just hit my head on the wall and didn't know what to do next.  My friend suggested I get a clear box and start taking his beloved toys away until he caves and tries some veg.  So I'm on day 2 of taking toys away and I think he is just starting to grasp of the concept that he's not getting these toys back.  We've been to the supermarket together since he told me he wanted corn on the cob.  When I served him the corn on the cob I was then informed he only eats American corn on the cob.  Again I gave him a second chance and nothing.  So in went more toys.  I informed him that I was going to take the iPad away tomorrow just to be told that the iPad is too big for the box.  It's hard not to laugh in these standoffs so just had to turn my head away.

So here's what I've learned so far:  1. I'm going to need a much bigger "naughty box" and 2.  This kid has got real determination and can seriously negotiate.  The great thing about this past week is that he has eaten not a single snack, candy, biscuit, cake, raisin, ice cream, etc. and has eaten all his meals and fruit without complaining.  Well technically his best friend snuck him a singular animal cracker today when I wasn't looking!  It is amazing that I've weaned him off of sugar so quickly and unexpectedly. So who knows how many naughty boxes I'm going to have to fill up before he tries a tiny morsel of veg but I'm determined to win this one.  I've got to finish what I've started and must follow through.  I think the next step is to bring in a reward chart and offer a big prize.

Will keep you posted on the vegetable battle!

sick day

I've seriously had enough of winter already. Someone is always sick in this house with a snotty nose. I don't know how many times I've had to restock tissues and wipes this winter. I'm hopped up on Day Quil now to try to get through the rest of this day. That's the thing with being a mom there's no break and we've got to keep going strong. Going to put my head down while baby girl is napping and boy monster is at school. Hope to be back to my perky self tomorrow and write some more exciting posts this week. Until them I'm sanitising my hands like a mad woman and trying not to pass this on.

bakers royal peanut butter cookies!!!!!

WARNING - LOOK AWAY NOW IF YOU ARE ON A DIET!

Unfortunately I've discovered Pinterest and it is really really good a distracting me from getting anything done.  Bakers Royale is my new serious obsession.  I have to wipe away the drool while looking through her website and so tempted to try all her recipes but afraid I'll end up weighing 1000 pounds.  When I came across the Peanut Butter and Marshmallow Cookie Sandwiches recipe I simply could not resist.

I had all of the ingredients (well almost) in my cupboard and gave it a shot.  This is seriously one of the easiest recipes I have every made and the hardest thing was trying not to eat all of them in one sitting.  The cookie part of it only requires 4 ingredients and no flour necessary!  The recipe calls for 1 cup of peanut butter and of course I only had 1/2 cup worths.  I substituted with 1/2 cup of nutella and the result was simply too delicious.  It did take awhile to beat the marshmallow filling as I only have a hand mixer and not a stand but well worth it.  It took everything I had not to eat the whole bowl of filling.

Great for feeding hungry mommies on a playdate and will surely impress.

Click below for the recipe:
