city kids meet the countryside

I've almost made it to the end of half term as a single mother this week and thankfully we finally got a lovely sunny day today.  Halloween is a pretty big deal back in the States and each year that we have been here in London it seems that the Brits are catching the spirit too.  This is one holiday that I don't want my kids missing out on!  I packed the kids up in the car this afternoon for the drive out to Crockford Bridge Farm Shop in Surrey.  It was actually a nice quick ride from Southwest London just past Heathrow Airport down the M25.  We went last year for the pumpkin patch when my little girl was just a teenie tiny one and it was amazing to see her running around today.  It really does got that much quicker the second time around!

Crockford has so much to offer for a family day out and is perfect for energetic children who need space to run around.  There is of course an amazing selection of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes at the pumpkin farm.  They are setting up lots of fun Halloween activities for the weekend so be sure to check out their website if you are looking for something fun to do.  The kids loved playing in the rustic playground with a couple of play houses, an amazing wooden swing hanging from the big tree and the main attraction the zip line swinging from tree to tree.  Be sure to bring your wellies!  There is a cute little gelato shop where you can get adorable little mini cones for the kids and maybe a scoop for yourself.  What the kids really loved most was running around in all of that open space picking up sticks and dandelions.

On the same property is the Weybridge Garden Center where you will find the actual Crockford Bridge Farm Shop.  The shop is filled with fresh produce, butchers counter, and a huge selection of American food.  If you are looking to bake some classic American treats this Halloween than this is a great place to pick up supplies.  The highlight of the Garden Center is the indoor play area with cafe and restaurant.  I definitely recommend leaving time to let the kids have a run around in there.  It's pretty much impossible to avoid since it's right next to the toilet/babychange so plan accordingly and keep in mind rush hour traffic back to London.

I highly recommend a trip out to Surrey for a fantastic Halloween themed day and bring your cameras as there are so many photo ops!
